Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have insurance, or choose not to use it for your care, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. You may request an estimate before deciding whether to schedule services.
Your estimate explains the services and charges reasonably expected for your care. For ongoing counseling, it may include the expected number and frequency of sessions and the estimated total cost.
When you should receive your estimate
• If you schedule care 3 to 9 business days ahead, your estimate is due within 1 business day after scheduling.
• If you schedule care at least 10 business days ahead, your estimate is due within 3 business days after scheduling.
• If you request an estimate before scheduling, it is due within 3 business days after your request.
How to request an estimate
Call Harry Turner, LCSW, at (225) 314-6705, or use the Contact page to ask about costs and an estimate. Please do not send clinical details or insurance documents through the website form. An estimate does not require you to begin care.
If your bill is higher than your estimate
If a provider’s bill is at least $400 above that provider’s estimate, you may qualify for the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. Generally, you must start the dispute within 120 calendar days of the date on the initial bill. Keep your estimate and bills.
